While it did tantalize the video game world with its improvements, it was still only a slight move in the right direction. Gamers would have to wait a while on the bench before that came true. Technology had caught up, albeit slightly, to gamers' football desires, to the point where this game has taken on an iconic status for gamers today. For quite a while, this was considered the greatest football video game by the video game world.
Why this went supernova isn't hard to figure out - with actual offensive and defensive strategies, they brought in a new level of realism.
